Japan - Saitama Stadium
Completed in July 2001, the Saitama Stadium is the home facility of the Urawa Reds, a first-division (J1) soccer club, which proudly provides some of the most enthusiastic fans of the whole country.
Even before the World Cup draw, tickets for the matches to be held in Saitama were being scalped over the Internet for many times face value. Those lucky fans who managed to get tickets were not disappointed. Saitama Stadium is perhaps one of the most beautiful and groundbreaking facility built for the World Cup 2002 Korea/Japan. With soaring triangular sails covering both banks of seats, and the intimate atmosphere of a football-only facility, many felt that this stadium should have been chosen as the site for the final, rather than Yokohama. However, Japan did play one of its World Cup pool matches in Saitama, and since then, it has hosted many national team matches.
Through a striking partnership with the company LIGHTCOSMO a superb lighting concept was developed especially for this modern stadium and was created with some of the GRIVEN top-drawer projectors such as the EVEREST CYM 900, which features were highly appreciated.
EVEREST CYM 900 is a fully weatherproofed (IP65) colour changer, suitable for creative lighting of any architectural outdoor application which needs to be enhanced by a skilful use of colour and light. Its standard 7° optics will produce an ultra narrow beam for great distances, the only trade off being a less smooth mix of colour changing at closer projection distances, due to the more focused image. This ultra bright, ultra narrow beam ability is probably unique from an IP65 rated colour changer and will give lighting designers and specifiers opportunities not previously available to them. However, the standard front diffusion glass and the manually adjustable zoom between 17° and 24° make the projector highly suitable for long distance coverage, as well. Other beam angles can also be achieved with optional additional filters. Colour sequences and blends can be selected from a pre-programmed internal controller, with multiple unit synchronisation possible, or controlled from the IP65 CYM dedicated controller or from any DMX512 control system. A version of the Everest - EVEREST CYM 900 HFT – is available fitted with a wireless DMX receiver, for trouble free control of large or otherwise awkward installations where the running of DMX signal cable from the control system to the projector could be problematic. This system requires the use of Griven wireless DMX transmitter.
