Located in Villaricca of Neaples, the Nuova Lanterna Hotel & Restaurant has recently required a new exterior lighting design concept. The new illumination scheme had to deliver a completely different and innovative appearance to the renowned structure while enhancing the architectural features of its façades and main entrances in a dynamic, colourful way. The property is located on a main road with heavy traffic load and is therefore visible to thousands of people every day. "The central location of the Nuova Lanterna inspired in me a high visual and emotional impact project, capable of acting according to the different seasons and occasions. In my original idea, it should have been able to reflect the typical colors and shades of the different periods of the year in southern Italy as well as the changing moods of the many events organized by the hotel management" asserts the Lighting Designer in charge of the project, the architect Marco Tremigliozzi.

In order to enhance the main façade of the Hotel, Tremigliozzi decided to rely upon the utmost performing and energy saving LED technology provided by GRIVEN ground breaking product range. Now artistically lit up, the outside walls of the Nuova Lanterna offer a breathtaking view owing to a skillful positioning of purposely chosen lighting fixtures along the perimeter of the structure. 12 units of the recessed modular bars Parade S-RGBW-40 Recessed with wall wash optics deliver a well diffused colour distribution to the outside walls, which are made up of overlapping concrete circular blocks positioned according to a checkerboard pattern. The final result is amazing: an unexpected alternation of light and shadow stresses this beautiful layout with bright, lively shades. 4 units of Jade RGB with medium optics have been installed on top of the wall to give further relevance to the Hotel signs.
PARADE S-RGBW-40 RECESSED is a modular, super flux, high luminance recessed linear LED module that, featuring an IP67 weather protection along with a compact size and a light weight manageability, can be installed in-ground for use in pedestrian areas. A truly comfortable set up is guaranteed by the total absence of external power supply box requirement. Fitted with 40 LEDs grouped in clusters of 4 LEDs each, this recessed bar delivers superb output and real uniform colour coverage purposely on close-up installations. The combination of RGBW LEDs featured and the photometric distribution efficiency offer an unprecedented astonishing white light output quality, as well as a wider variety of intermediate colour hues.
To complete the landscape lighting of the garden, 4 units of the brand new Dune MC RGBW with narrow beam have been employed to light up the bigger trees, while the palms and lower trees have been left to 12 units of Micro-Dune MK2 RGB with medium optics and to 4 more units of Jade 9 RGB with medium optics.
Specifically designed for exterior recessed applications, DUNE MC RGBW is based on an efficient combination of strikingly powerful RGBW full colour LEDs. This compact and versatile fixture is ideal for spot lighting and wall grazing owing to the wide selection of exchangeable optics groups available, ranging from spot aperture beams to wide distribution. A 2000 Kg deadweight load capacity makes this IP67 rated light fixture suitable for ground mounting applications even in vehicular areas.
The colour changer management of this project is based upon an innovative DMX system that can be driven directly from mobile devices. This option allows the hosts, for example the bride and groom in case of weddings, to welcome their friends and relatives setting the colors or colour combinations they prefer through a network password. The chosen lighting design can therefore assume different symbolic values, according to specific needs or recurrences, delivering to the hotel structure a strong identity along with an immediate visibility.
