DS, a dark sky–friendly luminaire designed by Dark Source and manufactured by Griven, has won the Gold and Green Build Back Better Awards 2025 in the lighting category as well as the LIT Lighting Design Awards 2025 in the category LED LIghting Products & Fixtures.

DS was conceived by the lighting designer Kerem Ali Asfuroglu to address a challenge shared by dark sky advocates worldwide: the lack of affordable, sustainable, and durable outdoor lighting alternative which is aligned with dark sky principles and industrial quality standards. By marrying sustainability with technical precision, DS provides a responsible alternative which enables outdoor illumination without compromising the night sky.

Most domestic exterior lights sourced from online or local retailers often fail to meet the basic performance requirements, leading to unnecessary material, electrical, and financial waste. In contrast, DS is engineered to grant longevity, versatility and adaptability for all domestic and professional applications.

This upcoming release, which will also be available in an enhanced version, DS PERFORMANCE, has already been assigned with two Build Back Better awards for its exceptional innovation and technological advancement (Gold) and for its commitment to circular economy principles and sustainability (Green), as well as with the LIT Lighting Design Award 2025 in the category LED LIGHTING PRODUCTS & FIXTURES.
