Thien Truong Bridge, Nam Dinh

Lotus in Light

Vietnam
Officially opened to traffic in May 2025, the newly inaugurated Thien Truong Bridge is already being celebrated as a new symbol of Nam Dinh City in northern Vietnam, thanks to its striking architecture and spectacular lighting design.

The Thien Truong Bridge project is a key transportation initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity between Nam Dinh City and the southern districts of the province. The total project length is 1.6 kilometers, including approach roads. The main bridge spans approximately 800 meters across the river Dao, with a 20.5-meter-wide cross-section and 16 spans.

Beyond its transportation function, Thien Truong Bridge is a significant architectural and landscape feature, envisioned as a modern symbol of Nam Dinh’s urban development. Its construction is expected to drive socio-economic growth, support tourism, attract investment, and foster the city's expansion.

One of the bridge's most distinctive features is its unique design, characterized by two towering structures shaped like lotus buds. Seen from a distance, the towers resemble lotus flowers reaching toward the sky, symbolically welcoming the sun and providing a captivating visual landmark, especially when lit up at night.
A dynamic lighting system was developed to provide both functional and decorative illumination, artistically enhancing the elegant lotus-shaped towers, lower pylons, and central span of the bridge with a harmonious play of synchronized lights.

The two main towers, along with their stay cables, are illuminated using a combination of 72 CAPITAL 100s, 24 CAPITAL 300s, 16 CAPITAL 200s — all in RGBW with spot optics — and 8 CAPITAL 100s with wide optics. Strategically positioned on poles or at the base of the side structure, these DMX-RDM controllable units cast vibrant splashes of coloured light onto the towers, making them visible from afar. To complete the lighting scheme, 8 additional CAPITAL 300s with extra-wide optics illuminate the pylons supporting the bridge, while 180 PARADE L4s with extra-wide optics enhance the silhouette of both sides along the entire bridge span.

The whole system is seamlessly controlled via a standalone unit connected through a standard Ethernet network, enabling perfect simultaneous interaction among all installed fixtures.

The final effect is truly stunning, transforming the bridge into a radiant landmark that beautifully enhances the skyline while delivering a sustainable, efficient, and user-friendly experience.
