ARENA MILANO Unveils Media Façade at Exclusive Preview
Event On July 2, 2025, CTS EVENTIM – Europe’s number
one in ticketing and live entertainment, and number two worldwide – welcomed
250 guests to an exclusive dinner featuring the grand premiere of the ARENA
MILANO media façade, the largest of its kind in Europe. The dinner and
accompanying show unfolded right in the heart of the construction site,
creating a unique setting for one of the most high-profile preview events of
the year.
A dazzling live performance synchronized with
spectacular visuals triggered the activation of the first of three LED rings
that shape the arena. Guests were treated to a one-of-a-kind preview of what’s
set to become Italy’s most modern and sustainable indoor arena.
Conceived by David Chipperfield Architects and Arup,
ARENA MILANO gives a contemporary expression to the historical archetype of a
Roman amphitheatre and creates a new cultural landmark for Milan, ready to host
world-class events, including the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Featuring an elliptical structure with three tiers,
the arena will offer a fully modular interior capable of accommodating a wide
range of events. Its architectural flexibility will ensure optimal
functionality, whether for large-scale live entertainment or major sports
events.
With sustainability at the heart of its design, the
arena will integrate advanced photovoltaic and geothermal systems. Complementing
the indoor space, a wide external plaza will serve as a venue for open-air events.
The Lighting Project Designed by Arup, the façade lighting of the Arena will
feature custom-engineered linear LED modules by Griven, equipped with
independently controllable pixels tailored specifically for this installation.
The LED modules are currently being mounted onto three rings, that wrap around
the entire façade of the arena. Matching the varying heights of the respective
façade segments, all Griven pixel-controlled LED bars have been designed in
custom lengths to ensure seamless visual continuity along the arena’s curved
surface.
The entire system will ultimately be managed by a
centralized control platform capable of synchronizing all multimedia content
projected across the façade, ensuring uniformity and precision in the display
of programmed visual effects. The
multimedia façade will be capable of displaying dynamic images and text, colour
gradients, flash effects, as well as video content optimized for its specific
resolution. Image and video playback will be free from artifacts such as screen
tearing, stuttering, flicker, and colour banding.
The façade management software will allow users to
upload videos, images, scrolling text, and even live footage. Additionally, it
will enable scheduling of different scenarios, ensuring they are automatically
displayed at predetermined times.
Due to its complexity, the project presents
significant challenges, yet it is progressing rapidly under the close
supervision of all parties involved to meet the tight deadlines set for the
2026 Winter Olympics. At this critical stage, special thanks go to Eventim and
Arup Lighting for their unwavering trust and support, as well as to our
dedicated sales and engineering teams for their tireless commitment.
Stay tuned for more updates as ARENA MILANO continues
to take shape — setting a new benchmark for innovation, sustainability, and
world-class live entertainment.
